Today i wanted to introduce you into my work 'Suffer Eternaly'. In several steps i reproduce with you the image i've created in 2016.

At first i loaded a photo of a person inside of Photoshop CC.

In this case it was Carmen Electra. After choosing the image i cut of the part of here face to become rid of the useless areas.


Now i created a background. That for i took some textures from beton, cement & some Paint brushes for photoshop.

These Textures i loaded into the background and tried to overlap them with different layerstyles, till i got an interessting texture

After this i reduced these with ALT + SHIFT + (M CMD / W CTRL) + E to a new single layer. Now i masked this with the Paintbrushes to become a nice separation.


In this step i inserted a texture of slate rocks and used the Black & White correction to create a high amount of contrast in the texture.
To combine the skin with the texture the layermode has to be on overlay.

Now i had to create an antler, with the same texture. I took a antler of a deer from google, selected this with my graphictablet and separated it to another layer. For the antler i took the same texture and layermode (Overlay).


Now i took some mountains and rocks as texture and recreated with these shapes, the face of here. I also had to change the colors of these images to black and white. The final attatchment was to correct the different contrasts and brightness of the different layers.

Now i reduced on the corners where i cut the face off a fractle corner by using Paintbrushes. To give this abit more depth and realism, i created a tiny motionblur. This made the image ways more dynamic.


I created to new layers and used the Renderfilter > Clouds. This became a secound filter Blurfilter > Motionblur. After i created this layers i matched them into the Background, to create more motion and dynamic.

To become lighter spots i set the texture layer wich is on the higherpoint in the order to vivid light, color dodge or overlay.


Now i took some fire textures & space nebulas in black and White and masked them into the dynamic we created befor to give it abit more random movement. Again i played abit arround with the Layermods.

To this step a view times and try to change the order of the nebulas/fire textures to become a different look.


Again i created abit dynamic with the motion blue filter and a separated cloud layer. This time i setted the layer mode to soft light.

For abit more random movement i marked the soft light layer and choose the Filter > Liquify, there i used the twirl tool and used left click to rotate in glockwise, rightclick to rotate in the oposit direction. Again, try to play arround with the settings.


Now i insierted some orange colordots to different layers which i created new, under the dynamic layers. These layers became different Layermods, i personaly prefered to use vivid light, Screen, overlay.

After this i made some darker strokes to give it abit more smokey look. That for i used textures and brushes. Tip beside, try to work with abit brown and soft dark blue in here. This gives the image again abit dynamic. Remember the lighter sight is brown and the shadow sided smoke is abit blue.


Now i played abit with sparks & fire textures, which came on the top. I changed the layermode to Overlay and masked some parts off. To give the image just abit more Fire details.

The same i did in different layer orders to become abit more depth into the fire. Some of them got abit blured via Filter > Blurfilters > Gaussianblur.


Now i created some firetrails using the brushtool in different sices and as colors white, yellow, red on different layers. These became vivid light as Layermode. Use the direction of the Motionblur you took before.

I took a breake to get my eyes rid of the colors. After i came back i took some small corrections with the Curves tool.


The image is almost done and i figured out, after my break, that i need to change the colors. Thats why i made a color adjustment with the Camera Raw filter, but you also can improve them with any other colorcorection. I added abit cyan in the darks and increased yellow and red for the lights.

The dynamic of the color is again needed to get abit more realism and depth into the image. This layer is called the '6090' Layer. With this u can try out to figure out the best result of your image and improve missing things.


In the last step i added a font, which i splitted into 2 parts. These became a rust texture in black and white. Then i added abit of fire textures and color adjustments to the font and we are done.

I hope this will help you to try out abit with your new Photoshop skills. It always helps to seperate single steps of a tutorial into a new own composition.

Always think creative and have a look to inspiring artists, this helps alot. Try to figure out how they created seperate styles of there images and try to reproduce them.
